WHAT WE DO?
WHAT WE DO?
Since 2020, we have been operating in the city of Corinth, not far from the government-run refugee camp. In Corinth, we run a Community Center, a Everyone School, and a Community Garden.
These welcoming, community-focused spaces provide essential support to people living in the Corinth camp while they await the outcome of their asylum procedures.
Our services include language classes, the distribution of essential items such as diapers and clothing, and a variety of recreational and sports activities. We assist individuals with appointments in the public healthcare system as well as with other NGOs in Athens, and, whenever possible, help cover part of their travel expenses. Additionally, we connect people with legal support organizations and provide guidance for job searches and navigating complex bureaucratic processes. When prescribed by a doctor, we also support the purchase of essential medicines.
From the outset, our work in Corinth was designed to be dynamic and adaptable to the evolving Greek reception system. This flexibility, combined with close collaboration with like-minded organizations, allows us to continually adjust and grow in response to emerging needs.
THE COMMUNITY CENTER Χειραψίες
The Community Center “Χειραψίες” was envisioned as a space that is both functional and welcoming—not only for migrants but also for members of the local community—with the aim of fostering intercultural exchange. At the heart of the center is a lively café area offering tea, coffee, biscuits, and board games to encourage spontaneous conversations and a sense of normalcy during the long and often uncertain asylum process. We also host a small Multilingual Library, where visitors can borrow books in various languages as a way to promote intercultural dialogue and connection through shared literary experiences.
We distribute clothing and childcare supplies through a dignity-based points system, allowing individuals to make their own choices in a respectful and empowering way. Over time, we have added new features to enrich both the Community Center and the Everyone School, including a Computer Corner with free internet access and a Sewing Corner, where visitors can repair clothing either independently or with the support of volunteers.
THE EVERYONE SCHOOL
The Everyone School promotes the right to education as a cornerstone of autonomy and inclusion. We offer language courses—primarily Greek, English, and German—to help learners access public services, all taught by dedicated volunteer teachers in a warm and supportive environment. Creative workshops and recreational activities are also held regularly, often led by members of the migrant community themselves, creating opportunities to share knowledge and develop both artistic and technical skills.
THE COMMUNITY GARDEN
In early 2025, we opened a new multifunctional outdoor space located even closer to the camp. This area is already active and steadily evolving. Particular attention has been given to accessibility, ensuring that the space is welcoming and usable for women, children, older adults, and people with reduced mobility. The space is being co-created with the participation of visitors and volunteers, who are involved in its design, daily management, and maintenance. This shared ownership fosters empowerment, responsibility, and a stronger sense of community.
Beyond providing essential services, our centers are also places of celebration. We have hosted birthday parties, Ramadan iftars, and New Year’s events. These gatherings create powerful moments of visibility, joy, and human connection—helping to break down barriers and build relationships across diverse communities.
OUR COLLABORATIONS
A fundamental aspect of our work is collaborating with other NGOs to provide services that we would not be able to offer on our own. Since the beginning, we have built connections with various organizations, and today we have established stable partnerships.
Medical Solidarity International (MSI):
MSI is also a partner at the VCC in Athens. Their team of doctors and nurses visits our school once a week, which we temporarily use as a clinic. They provide general medical care and medicines, and help us identify when someone needs a specialized hospital appointment.

Ithaca Laundry:
Once a week, the Ithaca Laundry van comes to our center with two washing machines and two dryers to wash at least 20 bags of clothes for people living in the camp. They connect to our center’s electricity and water, while we assist with the logistics to prepare the bags for washing and return them cleaned to the people. Additionally, Ithaca’s job counselor is available to support us in guiding people in their job search.

Echo Mobile Library:
Once every two weeks, the ECHO multilingual mobile library van stops in front of our center to lend books in many different languages, such as Arabic, Farsi, English, French, and more. Moreover, the library’s great team always offers engaging activities for both children and adults, showing that the library is a shared, accessible space for everyone.
